The Planet Announces 100 Percent Commission on Affiliate Sales |
| The Planet, the global leader in IT hosting, today announced enhancements to the commission structure of its affiliate program, based on the program’s resounding success. Registered affiliates will now receive a one-time, 100 percent commission on the referred customer’s total monthly recurring order value.
The Planet is also shortening the commission-payout waiting period for affiliates. Down from three months, affiliates will now be paid 45 days after a referred customer places an order with The Planet.
“Since our January launch, our affiliate program has seen tremendous success,” said James P. Treuting, vice president of sales and operations with The Planet. “Making these improvements to our already competitive commission structure is another way to thank our partners for referring customers to The Planet.”
In May, The Planet announced the addition of Internet-products company Directi (www.directi.com) as its largest affiliate. Share-A-Sale is The Planet’s affiliate network partner.

Affiliates earn money by referring customers to The Planet on a commission basis, without having to bear the costs of owning and managing the customer relationship. The Planet has optimized its Web site for affiliate-related traffic, and a dedicated team provides affiliates with marketing materials and promotions. Affiliates can also easily track their conversion statistics through a specialized administrative portal.
Registration has been designed to be easy and simple for participants:
1. Affiliates register on Planet Alpha’s affiliate program page located at http://www.theplanet.com/affiliates
2. Affiliates gain access to a full-featured management portal, which provides marketing materials, product information and a personalized HTML code to embed on their site.
3. Partners place links on their sites using the marketing materials.
4. Visitors to the affiliate’s Web site click on The Planet links, and a cookie is implanted to designate the source. Concurrently, The Planet Web site integrates with the affiliate vendor to make sales.
5. Affiliates can log into the affiliate portal to monitor sales conversions.
6. Share-A-Sale issues payments to affiliate partners.
